Hot Tricks

This section has possibly surprising information to update Weibull users.

HPGL GRAPHICS: For improved graphics capability for Microsoft Office 97 and Office 2000 products go to Microsoft's website at http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q196/5/06.asp and download the free HPGL graphics filter. HPGL capability does not come automatically with Word or Excel or PowerPoint anymore. Many thanks to Les Wetherington from NAVAIR for the tip on this link!

HPGL is one of the special graphics output formats available in Fulton Findings(TM) software. You can customize the output as a group of graphics objects in Office software.

To get HPGL output from Fulton Findings(TM) software, do the following. With a plot showing on the main screen, select Print/Hardcopy/Softcopy and then set Output Type to FF Picture File. Then click on the green checkmark, and the main results graphics will be saved into an HPGL format file. NOTE: Be sure to use .HGL for the filename extension so that it can be automatically included in the Microsoft picture file listing.

In Office (Powerpoint for example), select Insert, Picture, From File and the file should appear as a choice (if it has the .HGL extension). After inserting, the picture should appear as if it came from a plotter. With the cursor over the inserted graphic, do a right-side mouse click to bring up the menu of choices, and then select Edit from this menu. You should see a message indicating that the graphic is an imported picture, not a group. Select Yes when asked whether you want to convert it to a Microsoft Office drawing, and then each line and label will become a separate object that you can customize!

LANGUAGES: The SuperSMITH(TM) software programs are available in eight languages now. English, French, German, Swedish, Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese (Brazilian), and Italian language translations are loaded automatically with the current versions. New languages are easy to add, please contact Wes Fulton of Fulton Findings as listed in E-mail Addresses, Sites & Telephone #'s, if you want to assist in getting the software translated into other languages or if you have suggestions on improving existing translations.

We ship 32-bit (Win95/98/NT/2000/XP-and-above) software unless specified otherwise. We can make 16-bit (Win3.1) software versions of the WinSMITH(TM) software available if needed. WinSMITH(TM) and SuperSMITH(TM) prices shown above are for 32-bit software. There is a $20.00 discount per program for the 16-bit software. Choice of 16-bit or 32-bit depends on application. A comparison of the two alternatives follow.

supports long file names
better network interface especially for printing
approximately twice as large as the 16-bit software
runs on later Windows (95, 98, NT, 2000, XP, etc.), but WILL NOT run on early Windows (3.1)
